About SJOT

Overview

The Student Journal of Occupational Therapy (SJOT) is a "gold" open access, double-blind peer-reviewed journal managed by the students of the University of St. Augustine for Health Sciences. SJOT provides a dedicated venue for graduate-level students in occupational therapy and related fields to participate in the production, evaluation, and publication of high-quality research and scholarly analysis which advances the effective practice of occupational therapy.

SJOT is published by the University of St. Augustine for Health Sciences Library and is managed and edited by an editorial board comprising graduate students of the University of St. Augustine for Health Sciences Occupational Therapy Program under the guidance of the university's scholarly communications librarian.

Submissions

The Student Journal of Occupational Therapy (SJOT) accepts article submissions on an rolling basis. Original, student-written work can be submitted at any time using the online Article Submission Form.

Important: Please read the Journal Policies and Manuscript Guidelines carefully and completely before submitting your work.

Journal Statistics

The Student Journal of Occupational Therapy annually calculates acceptance rates and decision times based on submissions and publications from the prior year. These are published to the journal website here on the About SJOT page for ease of consultation by potential submitting authors.

Acceptance rate

For the first year of publication, the journal published approximately 30% of the submissions received.

Decision time

Average time to the initial decision for articles submitted in that same period was approximately 16 weeks.

Average time to publication

The average time to publication for accepted articles for this period was 37 weeks. Note that this calculation includes the time needed for initial peer review and author revisions, as well as time for any additional rounds of peer review and author revisions prior to final approval and publication.

Indexing

The Student Journal of Occupational Therapy is a newly established journal, and is currently indexed in Google Scholar and the Digital Commons Network.

History

The Student Journal of Occupational Therapy was first published in 2020 under the leadership of student editors Natasha Menard and Kelsie Fournier with guidance from university librarian Eric Robinson. It published its first issue in the fall of 2020.
